Food and nature at Byron Bay with Porter Novelli

How could I miss blogging about this very enjoyable assignment? Maybe something to do with COVID got in the way? Last year Porter Novelli, a public relations company based in Sydney, engaged us to photograph the winners of the Investment NSW Awards. One of these was Brookfarm, the well known macadamia and cereal company from Byron Bay. We had the pleasure of photographing at their head office and factory as well as the original macadamia farm. We even were able to sample some of the delicious nut varieties while drinking G and T's at the Cape Byron Distillery, which is nestled into the farm, overlooking the regenerated creek areas.

Mt. Warning Estate

We had the delightful experience of photographing at Mt. Warning Estate, capturing the amazing transformation of an old bales (dairy) into luxury country accommodation. The hard-work, vision and sense of style of the owners, Helen and Graham Dietrich, is stamped all over this place. We look forward to photographing your next "cabin" (if it can be called that!) soon. Watch this space!

Wall of Love

Wall of Love is a favourite local band, so we were thrilled when they engaged us to do the photography for their new album cover and promos. The brief was to include a wall - old shed on the lead guitarist's property - tick! Include all their families. Old ladders to achieve some different heights and interest - tick! Just bring on the smiles for this true wall of love!
Here are some of the photos from the day:

We always love photographing food and even more so when its the colourful and delicious masterpieces by Shankar of Kathmandu Kitchen, that perennial favourite of many out at Kingscliff on the Tweed Coast. Here are a few images from that shoot:

Rural shoot with heavy horses

Late last year we had another rural shoot, we sort of live in the country, but loving getting to work in real rural areas. (Please note all businesses and agencies: we love to travel to shoot photos for you!) This shoot was for a social media project for a client who had arranged for us to capture images of an old farm and the stunning heavy horses in harness. Here are just a few of the hundreds of photos from the day:

A commercial shoot for Pioneer Australia

Last week saw us out at Casino (a couple of hours south-west from here) to photograph 2 reps from Pioneer Seeds Australia for their online and print promotional products. We asked the universe for good weather and some great clouds and thats certainly what we got. The late afternoon sun was a bit strong at times, but nothing these two great guys from the country couldn't handle - no sunglasses for these guys. The agency and Pioneer Seeds were really happy with the results: "Absolutely sensational…I couldn’t be happier…and we will certainly use them again!"

Art Gallery Cafe shoot

Earlier this year, we had a fun shoot on a warm summers day at the Art Gallery Cafe in the Tweed Valley. This lovely mother and daughter combo helped us out with their exploration of the gallery, its shop and all the delicious delights of this cafe, which is now being run by Peter and Charlies of Mavises Kitchen fame. Hope our photos have you salivating!

A magazine shoot at our local brewery

Factories can be fascinating places, visually and for what they produce! In September we were commissioned by Shecco to photograph at Stone and Wood (our local wonderful brewery). The focus was on some particular equipment that is used there to be featured in a magazine that Shecco produces. We cant show you any of those particular images they used, but here are some others we took while there. I love light through glass and wished we had more time to really get into that.

Headshots at an event

This Australia-wide company was holding a training event at a fantastic venue in the hills near Mullumbimby. They contacted us to come and do a quick headshots shoot. As a very varied team of individuals they were great subjects and fun to work with. Here are a few samples of what we did in a very short window for them.

Rainforest products

As well as covering the opening of Australian Rainforest Products new factory, which we cant show you, due to the confidential nature of their processes, we also did a quick product shoot as well as capturing some stock photos for their website, as well as staff portraits. Our versatility means that a business can receive a lot of value from us in a short time. We are very cost-effective and this client was very happy with all we achieved for them. We also photographed the lemon myrtle flowers later in the season and provided them to complete the picture.

Dreamspace

We’ve been putting more emphasis on our commercial photography recently and have been rewarded with some very enjoyable commercial jobs. One was for Dreamspace, a local company who import their own designs in mosquito nets, bed canopies and silk sheets and quilts. All lovely stuff to photograph, great people to work with and a beautiful setting looking out over the caldera, even though it was a wet day. If you’d like to know more about these beautiful products just go to Dreamspace or Mosquito Nets. Here are a few images from the shoot:
